Okay, so I really have no idea how this happened. I mean, I'd only met the guy a few months ago. Sure, since going on this quest we'd been together a lot, but I'd never imaged this. I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I gasped when I saw my neck. Two large hickeys were on the collar of my neck. I walked out of the bathroom just as Nico was getting up.
"Ruby? What's wrong with..."
I punched him in the face. Of course, this just made him smile. He grabbed my still out stretched arm and pulled me down beside him. Before I could do anything, he started kissing me on the neck, right around where the hickeys were.
"Ruby, what are these?"
"They're the reason I punched you."
"Because of two purple spots on your neck?"
"No, you stupid king, they're not just purple spots, they're hickeys."
"Ghost King. And what're hickeys?"
I didn't know whether to laugh or just sigh. I think I did a little of both. That got his attention.
"I'm not joking. I really don't know what that is."
I got up off the bed and went back into the bathroom. Thankfully I had thought ahead a brought some things in case one of us got a bruise. I put some make-up over the hickeys and just as it finished, someone knock on the door.
"Nico! Ruby! You have to come see this!"
Nico and I looked at each other, then ran outside. Percy and Annabeth were standing under a skylight. Outside there were fireworks, massive ones that light up the whole sky.
"You two came down. Looks like I own you five drachmas Seaweed Brain."
Nico looked as confused as ever, and I think I was right there with him. Sure, I knew Percy and Annabeth had put us together so that they could be together, but did they have other plans along with that? I wasn't too sure.
"What were you two betting on?"
"If you two would..."
Annabeth hit Percy in the stomach and I knew right away what they were thinking. I guess Nico did to, because I started to see him shadow travel.
"Nico, I swear to the gods, if you leave me alone with these people, you'll have to sleep with an eye open!"
As I ran after Nico, I could hear Percy and Annabeth laughing. I was so getting them back for this. I opened the door to our room and saw Nico sitting on the bed with his back to me.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just wanted to get you back here."
And with that, Nico pulled me down onto the bed and started to kiss me. This quest could end up being a good thing after all.
"Happy new year Ruby."
"Happy new year Nico."
